Member Participation

Jeannie Cleveland thanked swim team members who volunteered at the last swim meet because adults haven’t been in the loop about volunteering and bringing food because of the length of time since the last meet was 3 weeks ago

Carroll Christman thanked the board for the communication about the new facility proposal

Bob Wahlheim noted that the communication cleared up misconceptions about the proposal.

Phil Miller requested the club’s email list.  Audrey indicated that because of privacy concerns, the club does not release the list to anyone.  Phil asked the board to reconsider.

Jim Fetterman commented that the club looked good on Sunday after the Saturday swim meet.

Kelly Fano asked the board to consider making courts 5 & 6 single courts to accommodate the paddle tennis court to the east of court 6.

Jeannie Cleveland asked if a shade structure that she has can be put up on the grass between the tennis courts and disassembled before winter.

New Business

Website – Doug Peterman would like to have the logo updated and is looking into a free website content management program that would give KJ the ability to update the website

GM Report

An agreement has been signed with Comcast to provide TV, internet, and phone service with one additional line that will save approximately $1,600 the 1st year and $800 each year thereafter.  It is scheduled to be installed by the end of August.  A suggestion was made to look into providing member access to the internet at the club through purchase of an access card.

The pool will be open on weekends in September and there will be adult swim classes in August and September. There was a question whether the pool could be open in the evenings without a guard if a sign was posted that said “no guard on duty- must be 21 or older to swim”.

Tennis and Platform Tennis Update

Curt reviewed the proposal plans with two members of the Meadow Glen HOA who raised concerns about kids trespassing on the HOA property, noise, and lights.  He explained that platform lights are different than tennis court lights and that they’re up against the platform wall so not as obtrusive.

Richard is nailing down the specifics for construction of the tennis courts to be constructed on the NW corner of the club’s property. The committee is moving forward to complete the application with the city.

Junior tennis championships were held this past week and went well.

Swim Team Update

Audrey and KJ will review personnel, procedures and finances to prepare for next year.  They will survey swim team members and their parents for feedback to improve the program for next year.

Social Events Update

The Oktoberfest will be held on September 26.

The philosophy of the club is to break even on events and charge people if they signed up but don’t attend.

Over the winter, a committee will review the budgets for social events.

Facility Proposal

The 26 page proposal will go out tomorrow and ballots must be postmarked by Aug 7.

Meadows nonprofit status will be addressed at the next meeting which will be August 25 at 6 PM at Curt’s office training room.

Meeting Adjourned.
