2008
Annual Meeting Facility Upgrade Status Report
- The
project team (Jim Bray, Ann Goldfarb, John Miller, Curt Corrigan, Doug
Peterman, Jen Bray, Jacque Anderson, Dee Perry, Richard Leddon, and
Kjersten Buzek) led by Steve Lakowske is working
to implement phases I and II of the upgrade plan
- The
Board and project team are working very hard to be proactive,
communicative and responsive to the concerns of our neighbors. Considerable time and club expense has
been invested into working with a small group of 15 neighbors led by
Meadows Club members who oppose the Phase I and II projects.
Phase I
- Platform
courts are waiting for city approval of a minor modification to the PUD
and reinstatement of the building permit.
It is our goal to complete this process and have the courts in
place for the season before December.
- The
two new Har Tru clay
courts are awaiting city approval of a building permit and will be
installed as soon as the permit is approved.
- Two CU
interns have developed a landscaping plan for the pool area expanding
usable grass recreation area and adding additional deck space
.
]
Phase II
- The
new pool deck is being installed with additional square footage and
updated hardware.
- Steps
are being taken to improve drainage on the east side of the pool.
- The
starting blocks will be moved to the deeper east end of the pool for
safety with additional deck space for the heating area.
- All
pool projects and the new pool shell will be installed by Thanksgiving.
- The
vendors are being selected for the new tennis building and the permit
process will begin with the city shortly.
- Once
the permit is approved and financing is finalized, construction will begin
this winter. Completion is targeted
for March – April 2009.
- If
Phase II experiences delays similar to Phase I,
construction of the indoor structure will not occur until Fall 2009 to
avoid on court disruption this spring.
Closing comments:
- This
project has many “moving parts” and is requiring many volunteer hours by
the project team. If you are
interested in helping the team, please let a Board member know and we will
work to find a role for you on the team.
- Please
be patient as they are working as hard as possible to get the project done
right for the membership.
